 honor choir

On Friday, December 20, 2013, Burke Elementary Honor Choir visited Life Care Center of Kansas City, an Alzheimer's care  and rehabilitation facility, to perform for the residents. This field trip was an outreach partnership with LINC.  The choir performed three pieces and led the residents in a time of singing holiday songs. LINC's Girls on the Run Program from Burke created handmade holiday greeting cards for the choir to hand out to the residents. Before and after the performance students had time to greet the residents and talk with them. "We wanted to give the students an opportunity to reach out at this time of year which, can be very lonely for some. It was so amazing to watch the students mingle and chat with the residents." (Mrs. Janet Snook, Music Teacher Burke) The students also had opportunity to walk through the halls of the care facility and sing to residents who were not well enough to leave their rooms.
