LAST DAY OF SCHOOL - JUNE 1: Due to inclement weather this past January and February, the District closed school a total of five days. This time off is required by the State of Missouri to be made up to ensure students receive the proper amount of instructional time. The last day of school will now be Friday, June 1, 2018, and is a half day for students. There will be no school Monday, May 28 in recognition of Memorial Day. Attendance is vital to your student's success. Please ensure they attend class through the end of the year.
BASKETBALL CAMP: The Ruskin High School coaching staff will be conducting a camp April 16-19 for all students entering grades 2nd-6th in the fall of 2018. This camp is designed to improve fundamental individual skills, facilitate community and team building, and to promote leadership while enjoying the game of basketball. Students will have fun and educational atmosphere designed for elementary-aged students. For more information, download the camp flyer & enrollment form.
SAFETY BY CHOICE, NOT BY CHANCE: We invite all Ingels families and the community to participate in this event that is centered around keeping our community and kids safe! It will take place on Saturday, April 14, 2018 from 11-2 PM at Ingels.
EARLY CHILDHOOD/PRESCHOOL SCREENINGS & ENROLLMENT: HMC-1 is offering FREE early childhood screenings to children ages three to five. Screenings will be held April 23 & 24, May 2 & 3, and a variety of appointments times are available. Please call (816) 316-8560 during 9:00 am – 2:00 pm beginning March 19, 2018, to make your appointment. If your child turns 4 years old on or before July 31, 2018, you may also enroll them in the early education program during your appointment. For more information, please read the Screening & Enrollment brochure.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS: Attending school is always important, but for school funding, it is especially important on January 31, 2018. Attendance numbers that day will directly affect the amount of funding HMC-1 receives from the state. We ask parents to make sure their child attends school and arrives on time January 31.
WINTER WEATHER HAS ARRIVED! We ask all parents to review HMC-1's protocol for closing or delaying the opening of school due to snow and inclement weather. This is especially important because this year, it includes important information regarding 2-hour late starts. To review our process, where closure/late start information will be posted, and more, read our Inclement Weather Protocol.
PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCE FORMS: It's that time of year! Time to meet with teachers and check on your student's progress. A sign-up sheet has been sent home to schedule your conference. Please sign and return to school as soon as possible to ensure you get the time you want.
#ATTENDANCEMATTERS: HMC-1 is taking on chronic absences through our “Let’s Be Present…Attendance Matters” campaign. Throughout September, you will receive information and tips on ensuring your student is at school. If you think missing a day here or there won’t matter, think again. Absences add up quickly. By missing just one day every two weeks, you would be on track to miss nearly a month of school for the year! Click here to learn more.
