Students have received notices if they have books missing that were checked out before the end of March and have not returned them. Please return the books or pay the amount indicated through the HMC-1 Web Store starting April 26th. These fees include books missing from past schools in the district. Thank you for your help in returning the books or for paying for the lost items.
EARLY CHILDHOOD/PRESCHOOL SCREENINGS & ENROLLMENT: HMC-1 is offering FREE early childhood screenings to children ages three to five. Screenings will be held April 23 & 24, May 2 & 3, and a variety of appointments times are available. Please call (816) 316-8560 during 9:00 am – 2:00 pm beginning March 19, 2018, to make your appointment. If your child turns 4 years old on or before July 31, 2018, you may also enroll them in the early education program during your appointment. For more information, please read the Screening & Enrollment brochure.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS: Attending school is always important, but for school funding, it is especially important on January 31, 2018. Attendance numbers that day will directly affect the amount of funding HMC-1 receives from the state. We ask parents to make sure their child attends school and arrives on time January 31. Dress for success in your best clothes on the 31st, and then, on February 1st, dress down in your comfy clothes (sweats or school appropriate pajamas). Make sure you have your tennis shoes if you have PE either day.
WINTER WEATHER HAS ARRIVED! We ask all parents to review HMC-1's protocol for closing or delaying the opening of school due to snow and inclement weather. This is especially important because this year, it includes important information regarding 2-hour late starts. To review our process, where closure/late start information will be posted, and more, read our Inclement Weather Protocol.
NEW HARASSMENT & BULLYING POLICY POSTED: Important information related to changes in Missouri criminal codes has been posted to the District's website. These changes may have an impact on students in the HMC-1 community. The purpose behind the new laws is to protect students who fall victim to bullying and to discourage students from engaging in any sort of physical altercations.
As of January 1, 2017, substantial revisions to some of the Missouri criminal codes took effect. Please see the newly posted policy for details and answers to frequently asked questions.
