Advancing Students, Education, and the Community
"With the purchase and installation of the traversing wall, Compass students have done activities they normally would not get to do and have been more physically active in Physical Education class. This piece of equipment has been used by all students and some staff at Compass.
The traverse wall has allowed me to provide different activities for warm ups and instant activities to start classes. I will be using it for a unit later in the school year and will be integrating classroom subjects along with climbing on the wall. This will enabling problem solving, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and flexibility through the use of the climbing wall."

"The assistance we receive through the Hickman Mills Education Foundation allows us to support teen parents by providing them with needed supplies, such as diapers, clothing, books, educational toys and basic care items. The grant also allows us to conduct weekly teen parent groups where we provide parents with support, parenting knowledge, and connections to resources within the community. With HMEF’s help, the services we provide lessen stress levels on our teens and increase the likelihood they will complete high school."

"Working in Alternative Education is hard enough; there are many obstacles students and parents must overcome. The Hickman Mills Educational Foundation helps alleviate one of the obstacles my students face - how they will pay for their HiSet test. The cost for the test is $95. The Dollar for a Scholar program through the Foundation helps my kids achieve their dreams of becoming high school graduates.
I encourage my students and let them know I believe in them, and HMEF backs me up by providing this incentive to pay for 50% or 100% of their testing costs. This program shows our students they have a support system and an organization willing to help them pay for testing costs. They can't do this without HMEF's contributions."
