RideKC Student Pass
-
High school students in the Hickman Mills C-1 School District have an exciting opportunity to take advantage of free public transportation anywhere in the Kansas City metropolitan area. The Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) is launching a pilot program called Student Pass. This RideKC bus pass gives 9th through 12th grade students in HMC-1 free, unlimited access to public transportation at any RideKC stop. The Student Pass allows our scholars to get to jobs, internships, extracurricular activities, the grocery store, and many other places for free.
Passes will be available in the office at Ruskin High School. A parent or guardian will need to review the KCATA code of conduct and then sign and return a permission slip to the school in order for a student to receive the pass.
Some important things to note:
- If a student loses the bus pass, there is a $5 replacement fee.
- The pass can be taken away for violating the KCATA passenger code of conduct.
- The pass can be revoked if it is used by any person other than the student to whom it was issued.
- The pass expires on August 31, 2020. At that time, KCATA will examine if the program should be extended.
We hope you will take advantage of this program. There is additional information on the KCATA website. If you have any questions, please your child's school office.
