Behavior Support

HMC-1's behavior interventionists participate in developing and implementing classroom management and behavior improvement plans for students. They work with general and special education students and their teachers to resolve social, emotional, and behavior problems by conducting observations, modeling crisis intervention strategies, and providing classroom management training to staff. Additionally, they can provide information on services offered to students and families.
The behavior interventionist participates as a collaborative member of the Student Achievement and Family Empowerment (SAFE) Team at the schools. The SAFE team identifies at-risk students in order to coordinate services, strategies and interventions through open dialogue to create a service plan. The SAFE team also includes the parents/guardians, guidance counselor, student service advocate, and the teacher. Additionally, they can provide information on services to help student resolve their social, emotional and behavior problems.
The behavior interventionist are Certified MANDT instructors. MANDT is a comprehensive, integrated approach to preventing, de-escalating, and if necessary, intervening when the behavior of an individual poses a threat of harm to themselves and/or others. The behavior interventionist provide MANDT training for the district.
