Welcome to HMC-1

As Superintendent, I am excited about another year to collaboratively work with the Board of Education and the Hickman Mills C-1 team and family to effectively serve children. This year, our district theme is “Together Towards Tomorrow.” It is my hope that every staff member can work together towards the goals outlined in our strategic plan. I need every staff member to do something great for children every single day because our scholars deserve the absolute best!

I am excited to launch the new Five Year Strategic Plan for the 2019-2024 school years with the Board of Education, staff, and community stakeholders as well as business partners. There were teams of people that committed their time, shared ideas as well as aspirations for the future of the HMC-1 School District. The HMC-1 Strategic Plan development process; involved making decisions about the future based on present data and it allows us to create our own futures through rigorous assessment and long-range planning, followed by a laser like focus on executing the identified action steps for Our District, Our Schools and Our Community.

In addition to a new strategic plan, we are also launching the Hickman Mills C-1 Standards of Professional Commitments. The Standards of Professional Commitments align with the 2019-2024 Five Year Strategic Plan and Board of Education Policy GBCB, Staff Conduct. The Standards of Professional Commitments provide explicit examples regarding the standard for all district staff, frame the HMC1 Way, and help to build a positive culture and climate that ensure we have the best place to learn and work for children and HMC1 staff.

We will maintain our focus on achieving full accreditation, improving student attendance, continued growth around racial equity for staff and students, the safety and well-being of our scholars and keeping a high priority on finances. Through district partnerships and collaborations, we will increase real world learning opportunities to maximize market value assets for our high school students. Additionally, we will provide training to expand STEAM and Project Based Learning district wide; while telling our story in a meaningful and engaging manner.

Thank you in advance for your continued commitment to children and families in the Hickman Mills C-1 School District.
