Dear Truman Families,
WELOME to the new school year where we are “Full STEAM Ahead” at Truman Elementary School. It has been a smooth start to the school year. Thank you for partnering with us to make it a success. As I enter my fourth year as your principal, I look forward to establishing deeper relationships with the families I serve. As a staff, we want to create more opportunities for families to participate at Truman Elementary and become an integral part of our school community. Therefore, we look forward to seeing you at Meet and Greet, Family Fun Nights, Literacy Night, Art Night, PTA, Celebration Assemblies, after school clubs, Title 1 Meetings and much more! Please reference the school calendar in our handbook for specific dates and times.
There are several ways we hope to stay connected with you this year. First is through our Wildcat Folder that will come home each Wednesday. Inside the folder you will find news from the teacher, office and PTA. Please look for the Wildcat folder each week, remove the papers, sign the back of the folder and place it in your child’s backpack to return to school the next day. Additionally, we will communicate with you through emails and Phone Blasts. As your principal, I am happy to talk with you whenever you might have a question; so please do not hesitate to reach out.
At our school we emphasize the importance of each student acting as a Truman Scholar. The graphic below guides students as they navigate through their day. Students are recognized each week on the announcements for a job well done! Scholars will be encouraged to design, collaborate, investigate, research and create as we implement the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) initiative along with Project Lead the Way.
Our primary goal is to educate and enrich your child’s learning experience in a safe and caring environment. The key to success is ATTENDANCE! We need your child here at Truman each minute of every day. Ideally, we would like to have your scholar at school 95-100% of the school year which calculates to missing 5 days of school or less.
It is an honor to serve as your principal and my hope is that this will be the best year yet in the HMC1 School District!
