MEET THE BOARD
 
Irene C. Kendrick, President
 

Irene C. Kendrick, our Co-President, has been a vital part of the HMC-1 community for over 30 years. As a human resource professional and an alumna of the district, Irene's ties to the community run deep. She holds a degree in Human Resources Management and Services from DeVry University. Irene's passion for serving her community is evident through her involvement in various organizations, including the Grandview Parks and Recreation Commission and the HMC-1 PTA.

 
 
 
Ann E. Coleman, Vice President
 

Ann E. Coleman brings 40 years of experience in education to her role as Co-President. With a background in teaching elementary and special education classes, Ann is deeply passionate about advocating for children's education. She holds a Bachelor's of Arts and a Master’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education from Avila University. Ann's dedication to collaboration and community involvement drives her commitment to moving our district forward.

 
 
 
Beth Boerger, Director
 

With 22 years of experience in school district finance, Beth Boerger brings a wealth of knowledge to her role as Director. She has worked extensively in budgeting, finance, and administration within educational settings. Beth holds an Associate Degree and Accounting Certification from Longview Community College, as well as additional finance training from UMKC. Beth's dedication to utilizing her expertise to benefit students, staff, and the community drives her service on the board.

 
 
 
Alvin Brooks, Director
 

\Alvin Brooks brings a wealth of experience in education and public service to his role as a member of the Hickman Mills C-1 School Board. A retired educator from the Kansas City Public Schools, Brooks has dedicated his career to advocating for the welfare of children and ensuring equitable access to quality education. With previous service on the Hickman Mills School Board and as the former president of the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners, Brooks is committed to fostering safe, supportive environments where all students can thrive. His leadership and passion for education make him a valuable asset to the board and a tireless advocate for the Hickman Mills community.

 
 
 
Bonnaye Mims, Director
 

Bonnaye Mims brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to education to her role as a member of the Hickman Mills C-1 School Board. With a background in the Missouri Department of Mental Health forensic services, Mims has dedicated her career to supporting the well-being of children and families. Her extensive involvement in governance includes serving as a former board member for the Hickman Mills School District and as a Missouri state representative for District 27. Mims' dedication to education and public service extends to her current roles as a board member of the Hickman Mills Educational Foundation and as an alderwoman for Raytown, Missouri. Her leadership, coupled with her advocacy for equitable access to resources and opportunities, makes her a valuable asset to the board and a champion for the students and families of the Hickman Mills community.

 
 
 
Byron Townsend, Director
 

Byron Townsend, Director, is deeply rooted in the HMC-1 community, having graduated from Kansas City East High School. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness from Northwest Missouri State University and has been actively involved in community organizations for over 25 years. Byron's familial connection to the district, coupled with his extensive community involvement, informs his dedication to serving the needs of students and families.

 
 
 
Brandon Wright, Director
 

Brandon Wright, Director, is a dedicated educator and advocate for student success. With seven years of experience at Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools, Brandon has made a significant impact in various roles. He holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Missouri and a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Brandon's commitment to educational equity and his belief in the transformative power of education drive his service on the board.
