The Department of Human Resources Department is committed to recruiting and retaining a talented, diverse workforce passionate about our students' success. The department delivers exceptional customer service to potential, future, and current employees, promptly and professionally meeting staff needs. Roles And Responsibilities
 
  • Recruitment: The Human Resources department spearheads recruitment efforts by employing local, state, and regional strategies to attract top talent for open positions within the district.
  • University Engagement: Collaborating with universities at local, state, and regional levels, the HR team establishes relationships and engages in recruitment activities to tap into potential talent pools.  
  • Onboarding and Training: Human Resources facilitates the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they complete required training in alignment with Board Policy.  
  • Work and Salary Schedules: The HR department develops and manages work and salary schedules to ensure equitable and competitive compensation for all employees.
  • Personnel Support: Providing guidance and support to building and department leaders on personnel matters, including employee relations and performance management, is a key responsibility of HR. 
  • Collective Bargaining: HR leads the collective bargaining process with recognized employee units within the district, negotiating agreements that benefit both employees and the district.
  • Compliance: Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations is paramount to protect employee rights and maintain legal adherence.
  • Partnership Management: Managing the partnership with the Kansas City Teacher Residency Program supports teacher development and recruitment initiatives. 
  • Substitute Services: HR oversees and coordinates substitute services to ensure adequate coverage for staff absences, maintaining continuity in educational delivery.
  • Professional Development: Collaborating on the design and implementation of teacher professional development and ongoing training programs enhances the skills and expertise of certified staff.
  • Certification Management: Ensuring staff certifications are up-to-date and valid is crucial to meeting required standards and ensuring the quality of education provided.
  • Workplace Climate: Administering and monitoring the Pulse Survey assesses workplace climate and culture, fostering improvements in employee satisfaction.
  • Personnel Platforms: Overseeing Frontline Software Personnel Platforms, including Recruit and Hire, Central HR, Evaluation, and Absence Management, streamlines HR processes and enhances efficiency.
  • Policy Enforcement: Enforcing and implementing Board Policies related to personnel ensures a fair and consistent work environment for all employees. 
  • Staffing Allotments: Developing staffing allotments based on student enrollment and program needs aligns resources with educational requirements, optimizing staffing levels across the district. 
  • Employee Support: Providing ongoing support and services to employees addresses their needs and concerns, fostering a positive and productive workforce committed to the district's mission and goals.
