Department of Technology
The Information Technology Department strives to manage, support, and maintain the technological infrastructure, systems, and resources for the HMC-1 district. The technology department works closely with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to support technology integration and enhance the educational experience.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Infrastructure management: Establishing and maintaining the school district's network infrastructure, including wired and wireless networks, servers, switches, routers, and firewalls. They ensure reliable connectivity and troubleshoot network issues as they arise.
- Hardware and software management: Oversees the procurement, deployment, and maintenance of hardware devices such as computers, laptops, tablets, interactive whiteboards, projectors, printers, and other peripheral devices. Manages software licenses, updates, and installations, ensuring that systems are up-to-date and secure.
- Help desk and technical support: Provides technical support to teachers, students, and staff. Responds to help desk tickets and resolve hardware and software issues, troubleshoot network connectivity problems, and assist with configuring and using various technology tools.
- Classroom technology support: Assists teachers with integrating and using technology in the classroom, including interactive whiteboards, projectors, audio-visual equipment, and other classroom technology, including troubleshooting and training.
- User account management: Creates and manages user accounts for students, teachers, and staff across various systems, such as the learning management system, email platform, and other educational software, including password management, user access rights, and account provisioning and de-provisioning.
- Technology planning and budgeting: Collaborates with school administrators to develop technology plans and budgets. Assess technology needs, research and evaluate new solutions, and make recommendations for technology investments.
- Professional development and training: Provide opportunities and training sessions for teachers and staff to enhance their technology skills and knowledge.
- Policy development and compliance: Collaborates with school administrators to develop and enforce technology policies and acceptable use guidelines for students and staff.
- Vendor and contract management: Liaises with technology vendors, manages contracts and service agreements and coordinates hardware and software purchases.
