DEPUTY SUPERINTENDENT

Deputy Superintendent’s Office

The Deputy Superintendent plays a crucial role in supporting and implementing the Superintendent's vision and goals, while also providing essential leadership in the operational aspects of the educational organization. The position requires a strong understanding of educational policies, effective communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure the success and advancement of the school district.  

Responsibilities & Services

  • Leadership Support: Assisting the Superintendent in providing strategic leadership and guidance to the entire educational organization.
  • Administrative Oversight: Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the school district or educational institution in the absence of the Superintendent.
  • Policy Implementation: Ensuring the effective implementation of educational policies and directives set by the Superintendent and the Board of Education.
  • Budget and Finance: Assisting in the development and management of the school district's budget, ensuring financial resources are allocated appropriately.
  • Personnel Management: Collaborating with Human Resources to recruit, hire, and evaluate staff members, aligning staffing levels to student needs, and providing professional development opportunities.
  • Curriculum Development: Supporting the development and alignment of the curriculum with state standards and educational goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engaging with teachers, staff, parents, students, and the community to foster collaboration and address concerns.
  • School Improvement: Assisting in identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance student achievement and overall school performance.
  • Community Relations: Representing the school district and the Superintendent in various community events and engagements.
  • Crisis Management: Assisting in developing and executing plans for emergencies to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.
  • Board of Education Support: Providing support to the Board of Education, assisting with meeting logistics, and ensuring effective communication between the board and the administration.
  • Educational Equity: Collaborating on initiatives to promote equitable access to resources and opportunities for all students.
  • Special Projects: Overseeing and managing specific projects or initiatives assigned by the Superintendent.

Divisions and Departments

Division of Academics 

The Division of Academic Services provides instructional guidance across all grades (PK-12th) and subjects. Collaborating with building principals, district coaches, and teachers, the Academic Services team assumes responsibility for developing, implementing, and monitoring the district's curriculum and assessments. Instructional plans are designed to align with the approved curriculum, incorporating current research-based strategies and surpassing MSIP standards.

Division of Operations

The Division of Operations is a multifaceted department responsible for overseeing critical areas that support the district's smooth functioning and success. It encompasses Business, District Support Services, Information Technology, Safety, Buildings and Grounds, Nutrition Services, and Human Resources. This division plays a vital role in ensuring efficient operations, maintaining a safe and conducive learning environment, and fostering a productive and motivated workforce. The Division of Operations is dedicated to optimizing resources, enhancing operational excellence, and ultimately contributing to the overall achievement of our educational goals.

Department of Communications and Community Engagement  

The Communications and Community Engagement Department (CCE) enhances and improves communication within Hickman Mills C-1 Schools by employing a comprehensive approach that prioritizes disseminating the district's message to all stakeholders, including students, families, teachers, staff, administrators, government agencies, civic groups, community partners, and volunteers.
