Dear Smith-Hale Middle School Families:
I am the extremely proud principal of Smith-Hale Middle School. It is an honor to return this year as the Principal for the 2019-20 school year. The entire Smith-Hale staff would like to welcome all of our returning students and our new students. This year Smith-Hale Middle School will include 6-8th grades. An exciting time as we move “Together Towards Tomorrow”.
It is our intent to hit the ground running, working on developing the “Smith-Hale Way” which equates to a culture and climate that was agreed on to build a cohesive building unit. We will focus on building relationships, quality instruction, and alignment of the curriculum. Our mission is to go BEYOND THE DREAM - Two Scoops! Our commitment is to partner with each of our families. I believe in the phrase that it takes a village to raise a child. So, I am asking that parents get involved with the school and support your student as we develop our PTSA and students doing their extra-curricular activities. Our instructional delivery system is focused on extending our student’s knowledge in connection with STEAM and project-based learning.
Parents it is imperative that we get iPads into the hands of all students because it is the delivery system of our curriculum. Additionally, wearing ID tags will be a major focus point for not only maintaining a safe environment but also required for lunchroom scanning. We need your support with cell phones and dress code issues. We are a “No Cell Phone Zone”, they cannot be out or visible doing any type of instruction or movement as a unit. Secondly, communicate with your student that appropriate school clothing is expected and required. Specifically, full-length t-shirts (no midriffs showing), no ripped jeans that reveal skin, no basketball jerseys with armpits out, and no yoga (exercise style tights). Finally, we have a new drop-off/pick- up procedure for morning and afternoon. Please drop-off and pick-up your student on the backside of the building.
Our promise, to you, is that all students at Smith-Hale Middle School will benefit from our family approach to a common goal. “It starts with ME, continues with YOU, and depends on US”.
