Parents have the responsibility for the child’s regular school attendance. The Family School Partnership, included in the Parent Student handbook, outlines specific expectations for school personnel and parents.
Parents of students with excessive unexcused absences (3 or more) will be contacted by school personnel to determine causes of a child’s absences. It is our goal to help alleviate the problems underlying non-attendance.
Excused Absences can include, but are not limited to: illness, religious holidays, death in immediate family, quarantine, family emergencies, education opportunities with prior approval, court or administrative proceedings; etc.
Unexcused Absences can include, but are not limited to: missing the bus or oversleeping; etc.
Prior to or following a child’s absence, the parent or guardian is expected to call or send a written note stating the reason for the absence. Regular attendance is necessary for your child to get the greatest benefit from Ervin Elementary.
