Why I Chose Education as My Career of Choice

 When I was in High School I was bound and determined to be a music journalist. I knew I wanted to go to college and that being an A+ tutor would help with tuition and books so I began tutoring in a 1st grade classroom. There was one little girl specifically that needed my help, who was also a special education student, and we spent quite a bit of time practicing her math facts. One day she came in and announced that she had finally passed a test that she had been trying really hard on and ran up and hugged me. In that moment I began questioning if journalism was the correct path. Shortly after that I went on my first college visit and met with the dean of journalism who said I would be crazy to go into journalism and should think of a different career path. I took that as my sign that education was the route I needed to go. I knew I wanted to focus in special education because I had volunteered for years with the special olympics. It was the best decision of my life, I truely cant imagine doing anythign else!

 Hockey (Chicago Blackhawks), Live Music, collecting records, spending time with my husband and two dogs.
