What is Impact Hickman Mills?
Just under 500 students were classified as homeless in the Hickman Mills C-1 School District (HMC-1) during the 2017-2018 school year. Impact Hickman Mills was created with the goal of eliminating homelessness in the district, allowing students to focus on their academic studies and education.
Impact Hickman Mills is a collective impact project between HMC-1, Avenue of Life, and Life in Full Transformation (L.I.F.T.), Inc.
L.I.F.T., Inc. is a 501(c)3 organization located at Blue Hills Church and the backbone of the project.
The Impact model allows for families to receive multiple services in one day through the collaboration of varied service providers in a single location. These providers offer targeted, wrap-around care.
Families of students referred through the district McKinney Vento liaison will be able to meet with multiple agencies regarding housing, IDs/birth certificates, employment, healthcare, mental health, childcare, emergency relief, and other services in one place on a regular basis.
Services will also include community education to equip families with the tools to be sustainable and independent.
Impact is a one-stop-shop approach to enable families to accomplish in one day what may otherwise take three or more months on their own.
Seeking Community Partners
Impact Hickman Mills is seeking community partners to be on-site to help meet the needs of HMC-1 families during Impact service days. These partners are vital to the program’s success. Partners sign families up, provide support, and may provide services on the days Impact is open to families.
If your organization would like to be a community partner, contact L.I.F.T. at Blue Hills Church, (816) 337-8584.
