Why I Chose Education as My Career of Choice:
I was raised in a family that struggled financially and I struggled with learning. I was pulled out of class for Title 1 support and I wanted to help other students know that with hard work they can achieve any goal they set their minds to. I originally got my degree in Elementary Education with the hope to teach kindergarten or 1st grade. But when I moved to California due to being a military spouse, the school required a 5th year of study. I substitute taught one day in an autism/social communication class and fell in love with that field. I got my certification in Special Education and have never looked back. I am hoping to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst so I can become a better support for my students. I totally believe we are all life long learners and that ALL students can achieve anything with the right support, tools and equality.
Personal Interests:
Special Education, behavior analysis, curriculum and instruction, cats, cross stitching, coloring, reading, swimming and spending time with my husband and 4 kids.
