• Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Freda Markley Early Childhood Center (FMECC).

The FMECC staff and I look forward to partnering with you to share in your child’s pre-kindergarten experience.  FMECC maintains two national accreditations: the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and AdvancED.  This means that the administration and staff have demonstrated the ability to meet rigorous standards for the education of young children.

Each day our staff will provide educational opportunities through direct instruction and play to foster creativity and excitement for learning.  Daily activities and routines will promote the developmental growth of your child in the following areas:

    -- Approaches to Learning – Self-regulation       -- Physical Development – Health

-- Social and Emotional Development                -- History – Social Sciences

-- Language and Literacy Development              -- Visual and Performing Arts

-- Cognition, including Math and Science            -- English Language Development

                                                                                                for ELL Students

The FMECC staff recognize children learn and develop at their own pace and will provide every opportunity for children to succeed.  We have a professional, highly trained staff willingly available to be your partner in education. You are invited and encouraged to join the FMECC Site Council, FMECC Principal’s Advisory Committee, become a classroom volunteer or volunteer in other aspects of our school community.

Student attendance at school is very important to learning foundational skills for their success in elementary school and beyond.  We encourage you to be sure your child is at school every day, on time, and without being picked up early.

If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to share positive news with me, please drop by the school office, e-mail, or call me.  My e-mail is shario@hickmanmills.org and I can be reached at 816-316-8500.
