• Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to Freda Markley Early Childhood Center (FMECC).

The FMECC staff and I look forward to partnering with you to share in your child’s pre-kindergarten experience.  This year we continue to operate in unprecedented times due to the covid-19 pandemic.  Staff at FMECC are creating relevant and engaging lessons that will be shared via Zoom and Seesaw until we can all come together in the classroom.

Each day our staff will provide educational opportunities through direct instruction and play to foster creativity and excitement for learning.  Daily activities and routines will promote the developmental growth of your child in the following areas:

    -- Approaches to Learning – Self-regulation       -- Physical Development – Health

-- Social and Emotional Development                -- History – Social Sciences

-- Language and Literacy Development              -- Visual and Performing Arts

-- Cognition, including Math and Science            -- English Language Development

                                                                                                for ELL Students

The FMECC staff recognize children learn and develop at their own pace and will provide every opportunity for children to succeed.  We have a professional, highly trained staff willingly available to be your partner in education. You are invited and encouraged to join the Title 1 advisory that meets twice a year, become a classroom volunteer or volunteer in other aspects of our school community.

Student attendance at school is very important to learning foundational skills for their success in elementary school and beyond.  We encourage you to be sure your child is able to interact daily with the classroom teacher via Zoom and receive/submit activities via Seesaw.

If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to share positive news with me, please drop by the school office, e-mail, or call me.  My e-mail is shario@hickmanmills.org and I can be reached at 816-316-8500.
