Health Services
Our Commitment to Student Health and Well-being
At Hickman Hills School District, we prioritize the health and well-being of every student. Our dedicated Health Services team works diligently to ensure a safe and healthy school environment, promoting wellness and supporting students' physical and mental health needs. We are here to provide essential health services, resources, and education to our students, staff, and families.
Services We Provide
- On-Site Health Care: Each school in our district has a qualified nurse available to address immediate health concerns, administer first aid, manage chronic conditions, and provide care for students who become ill during the school day.
- Health Screenings: Regular health screenings are conducted to monitor vision, hearing, dental health, and overall wellness. Early detection through these screenings helps in addressing potential health issues before they become more serious.
- Immunization Compliance: We ensure all students meet the state-mandated immunization requirements. Our team provides information on required vaccinations and assists families in accessing immunization services.
- Chronic Condition Management: For students with chronic health conditions such as asthma, diabetes, or severe allergies, our health professionals work closely with families to create and implement individualized care plans. We provide ongoing monitoring and support to ensure students can thrive academically and socially.
- Mental Health Support: Understanding that mental health is just as important as physical health, we offer resources and referrals for counseling, crisis intervention, and other mental health services. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where students feel safe and empowered to seek help.
- Health Education: We believe in educating our students about healthy lifestyles. Our health education programs cover a wide range of topics, including nutrition, exercise, mental wellness, and disease prevention, empowering students to make informed choices.
- Emergency Preparedness: Our schools are equipped and prepared to handle health emergencies. All staff members are trained in CPR and first aid, and we have established protocols to respond swiftly to any health-related incidents.
Resources for Families
We understand that the health of our students is a collaborative effort. Our Health Services department provides resources to help families support their children's health:
- Access to Local Health Providers: We connect families with local healthcare providers, including doctors, dentists, and mental health professionals, to ensure comprehensive care beyond the school environment.
- Health Forms and Policies: All necessary health forms, including medication administration and immunization records, are available for download on our website. We also provide clear guidelines on health-related policies, such as when to keep your child home from school due to illness.
- Wellness Programs: We offer various wellness programs for students and families, including nutrition workshops, fitness activities, and mental health awareness events, to promote overall well-being in our community.
