SPRING BREAK HOURS: Schools will be closed March 18-22 for Spring Break. The Administration Center will be open from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Please note there will be no enrollment during Spring Break.
SHAPING OUR FUTURE UPDATE: During their March 7, 2019, special meeting, the HMC-1 Board of Education approved the Superintendent's alternate recommendation. The board amended the recommendation to repurpose Symington Elementary and Johnson Elementary. The Superintendent's full presentation and details of budget reductions are available to view.
As we move forward, know that students and staff are a priority. Communication is being sent to parents and staff to keep them informed.

EARLY CHILDHOOD/PRESCHOOL SCREENINGS & ENROLLMENT: HMC-1 is offering FREE early childhood screenings to children ages three to five.
Screenings will be held by appointment on April 23, 24, 29, & 30. A variety of appointments times are available.

If your child turns 4 years old on or before July 31, 2019, you may also enroll them in the early education program during your appointment. For more information, please read the Screening & Enrollment brochure (PDF).
MEETING RESCHEDULED: The Educational Accountability Committee meeting originally scheduled for March 4 has been rescheduled for 5:00 pm, March 6 at the Administration Center.
SHAPING OUR FUTURE UPDATE: During the Feb. 21 HMC-1 Board of Education meeting, MGT Consulting presented their final recommendations to address building usage, capacity, and budget reductions. A special board meeting has been scheduled for March 7, 2019, where board directors are expected to vote.
PARENT SURVEY: As part of HMC-1's Title I program, we invite all our parents and guardians to complete the annual Title I Parent Evaluation Survey. Your responses will be used to help each school and the district improve instruction and programs. Surveys are available in English and Spanish.
PUBLIC MEETING ANNOUNCED: A third HMC-1: Shaping Our Future public meeting has been scheduled for 6:00 pm, Tuesday, February 12 in the Smith-Hale Middle School multipurpose room. MGT Consulting Group will present options being reviewed that address the capacity and funding issues of the district. Parents, students, staff, and community members are encouraged to attend.
