Early Years Programs
At the heart of our district's commitment to fostering lifelong learners, the Early Childhood Program is a beacon of nurturing, learning, and growth. We understand the critical importance of early childhood education, and our programs at Freda Markley Early Childhood Center, Ervin Early Learning Center, and the Parents as Teachers program are designed to provide your child with the best possible start.
Freda Markley Early Childhood Center
Freda Markley Early Childhood Center is more than just a school; it's a community dedicated to every child's early development and success. Led by a passionate and committed staff, we partner with families to create a collaborative environment where children can thrive. Our Parent-Student-School Compact is a pledge that reinforces the connection between home and school, ensuring each child receives the support they need to succeed. Throughout the school year, we offer numerous opportunities for parents to engage and participate in their child's education, as outlined in our Title I Parent Involvement Plan. Together, we can create a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Ervin Early Learning Center
At Ervin Early Learning Center, we believe in the power of early education to shape the future. Our dedicated educators work tirelessly to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where young learners can explore, discover, and grow. We prioritize a holistic approach to education, focusing not only on academic skills but also on each child's social and emotional development. Our partnership with families is critical to our success, and we encourage active involvement through regular communication, family events, and a shared commitment to our Parent-Student-School Compact. Ervin Early Learning Center is where your child's educational journey begins.
Parents as Teachers Program
Recognizing that 95% of brain development occurs in the first five years of life, the Parents as Teachers program at Hickman Mills C-1 School District supports families with young children from prenatal to age five. Through personalized home visits featuring a research-based curriculum, families receive tailored support and guidance to enhance their child's early development. Group connection activities foster a sense of community and shared learning experiences, while comprehensive developmental and health screenings ensure that children receive the necessary support for optimal growth. Additionally, families benefit from access to research-based resources and information, empowering them to make informed decisions and provide a nurturing environment conducive to their child's overall well-being and success.
