Hickman Mills C-1 School District is pleased to announce that we will be using the Raptor Visitor Management System in all schools to strengthen campus safety for students and faculty. A critical component of keeping students and faculty safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times. The Raptor system will better allow us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer environment for our students and staff.
There will be two modules to the new Raptor system. One will be for daily visitors to district buildings - and one for All-in Mentors and school volunteers. Each of these components is described more in detail below.
Visitor Management Module
Beginning September 17, 2018, upon entering a district building, visitors will be asked to present a government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license, which can either be scanned or manually entered into the system. If a parent or guardian for any reason does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use any form of identification and manually enter the person’s name into the Raptor system.
Once entry is approved, the Raptor system will issue a badge on-site that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of his/her visit.
A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools simply to drop off an item in the office or pick up paperwork. A badge is required if a visitor is going beyond the school office.
Volunteer Management Module
Beginning September 17, 2018, the Volunteer module will also be in place. The Volunteer module is a web-based module and allows district patrons to complete an application via the Web Portal and submit the application for review/acceptance to be cleared to support multiple district endeavors via volunteering.
There is a $5 fee per background check paid by the District patron for volunteers which includes a more thorough check than the visitor-only background check at the building level.
Any district patron wishing to volunteer as a field trip chaperone, tutor or consultant, must complete an application and be approved prior to volunteering. An initial request for those two volunteer opportunities must first be made using the following website link. Someone from the district will contact you to start a background check when the request is received.
A district patron wishing to become an All-in Mentor should complete the background check by using the following website link.
Results of the background check must be received by the district and officially approved before volunteering, tutoring or participating in All-in Mentors.
Results of the background check will be submitted to the building/district designee. The district patron will then be notified they are cleared to begin to volunteer. The volunteer approval process will be an annual process – renewable up to 60 days prior to the end of the school year. A reminder email will be sent to all approved volunteers as the 60-day timeframe nears the end.
The safety of our students is our highest priority, and the Raptor visitor and volunteer management system allows us to quickly identify those who may present a danger to our students. Thank you in advance for your understanding and support by partnering with us to enhance the school safety protocols in our district.
