  • Pi Day is coming up on March 14th! Come out and support your middle school at the 3rd annual Family night/Pi Day celebration! There will be activities around mathematics, such as Pi Walk, Circumference Activities, and pizza calcuations. Science Fair displays will be presented along with the opportunity to dissect a sheep's brain. The choir will sing from 5:00-5:15, and art projects will be out for your enjoyment. Hope to see you there!

  • PARENT SURVEY:  As part of HMC-1's Title I program, we invite all our parents and guardians to complete the annual Title I Parent Evaluation Survey. Your responses will be used to help each school and the district improve instruction and programs. Surveys are available in English and Spanish.

  • ACTIVITIES CANCELED FEB. 5: Due to weather, HMC-1 is canceling all after-school activities for February 5 except for LINC. LINC will continue to provide after-school care as normal today. Parents of LINC students are encouraged to pick up their children from school as early as possible. Please be safe on the roads.

  • A group of our 8th graders will represent thousands of others across the country on February 6th. Known as The Nation's Report Card, NAEP is the largest nationally representative and continuing assessment of what students in the United States know and can do in a variety of subjects.   • Thanks to all who donated socks! Our students collected over 780 socks during our sock drive! All the socks will be donated to the homeless. Ms. Niemeyer, Ms. Wisniewski, and Ms. Dugan's classes will all receive a treat because of their hard work! Their 3 classes donated 65% of all the socks! Thanks for all you do!

  • Fifty students have been selected to take the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) on February 6, 2019. This will provide the students and staff the opportunity to test at a national level. If your student has been selected you will be notified prior to December 21st.   • Congratulations to the 48 students who will be participating in the Spelling Bee on December 14, 2018, in the Little Theater. All students will receive a certificate and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive a prize. Go E-A-G-L-E-S!

  • The Sock-a-Thon Sock Drive is taking place at Smith-Hale until December 14th. Socks will be collected during 1st hour on Blue Days. Those dates are December 5th, 7th, 12th, and 14th. We have already collected over 130 pairs of socks for the homeless! Socks must be NEW and may be any size.

  • Parents- If your child has not received their iPad, please watch the iPad video and turn in the iPad Agreement Form. If you have not paid the $5 Technology Fee or your child owes for a technology item from last year such as a case or charger, please pay for those items when the iPad is picked up. If you are unsure if your child owes a technology fee, you can view owed fees in your Parent Portal account. All items must be completed before your student will get their iPad.

  • Smith-Hale iPad Rollout will be October 17th and 18th during Parent/Teacher conferences. Please plan on at least 30 minutes to receive your student's iPad. Students will come home Thursday October 11th with an iPad Agreement Form. That form MUST be signed and returned to school before your student can receive their iPad.

  • NEW VISITOR & VOLUNTEER SECURITY PROCEDURES: Beginning Monday, September 17, 2018, all HMC-1 buildings will begin using the Raptor Visitor Management System to strengthen campus safety for students and faculty. The Raptor system will better allow us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer environment for our students and staff. Upon entering a district building, visitors will be asked to present a government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license, which can either be scanned or manually entered into the system.   • #HMC1AttendanceMatters: This September, we are holding our "Let's Be Present...Attendance Matters" campaign to highlight why it is so important for your child to be at school every day and on time. Each week, parents will receive an email with an attendance tip and information. Tips will also be shared on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Then Wednesday, September 26, we want to see each and every child at school for our HMC-1 Day of Perfect Attendance.

  • ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR SUPERINTENDENT'S COUNCIL: Superintendent Yolanda Cargile, Ed.D. is accepting applications from students grades 7-12 to participate in her Student Advisory Council. All eligible students are strongly encouraged to apply. This is a unique opportunity to speak directly with Superintendent Cargile and voice your opinion on topics that matter to you. Applications are due no later than September 14.

  • ENROLLMENT: Returning families still needing to enroll for the 2018-2019 school year should complete their Online Application. Once the application is submitted and approved, you will receive a follow-up email.

    Families new the district should visit our Residency & Enrollment office to enroll. Parents are encouraged to fill out our Online Registration application prior to visiting.

  • IMPORTANT CHANGES TO THE 2018/19 CALENDAR: An updated District calendar for the 2018/19 school year is available to download. Please note the first day of school will now be August 15. There are also two additional days of no school so staff can participate in professional development. Similar changes have also been made to the 2019/20 calendar.
