  • BELONGINGS PICK-UP: During designated times May 27-30, parents may retrieve student belongings and return library books, etc. to their student's home school. See the district's flyer (PDF) or website calendar for details.

  • SUMMER SCHOOL JUNE 1-25:  Applications for summer school are now available online.  Summer school will run June 1-25, Monday through Thursday and will be 100% online.  The last day to submit student applications is May 15.  More details are on the Summer School page.

  • SCHOOL CLOSURES:  Missouri Governor Mike Parson has mandated schools close for the remainder of the academic year.  Students should continue learning through HMC-1's Flexible Learning Plan, available on the district website.  Choice boards for the remainder of the year have been posted.  Please watch your email and the website for additional annoucements.

  • FLEXIBLE LEARNING PLAN: Due to the mandate of school closures announced by Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas, HMC-1 is closing all school buildings and suspending all activities through April 24. This includes in-person instruction, extra-curricular activities, and LINC programming.

     

    Starting Tuesday, March 24, all instruction will take place through a Flexible Learning Plan (i.e. virtual learning). There will be printed packets available for families without WiFi. Packets will be distributed March 24 between 7:00-10:00 am. and 4:00-6:00 pm at the Administration Center (5401 E. 103rd St.).

  • Proposed Changes:  HMC-1 is exploring changes to school start times and bus transportation.  These changes will significantly reduce transportation costs by using fewer buses.  If the Board of Education approves, the proposed changes would begin with the 2020-2021 school year.

  • Preschool Screening:  Preschool screening for children 3 years old to 5 years old was originally scheduled for the end of April.  Due to school being closed through April 24, 2020, preschool screening has been postponed.  We will continue to keep our Hickman Mills community updated on the status of preschool screening.  If you have any questions, please call (816) 316-8500.

  • PARENT SURVEY:  As part of HMC-1's Title I program, we invite all our parents and guardians to complete the annual Title I Parent Evaluation Survey.  Your responses will be used to help each school and the district improve instruction and programs.  Surveys are available in English and Spanish and will close March 13, 2020.

  • Car Rider Procedures:  Beginning September 3, 2019 FMECC will begin the car rider line.  Parents can pull up to the front of the school and a staff member will come to the car to help the student out of the car and into the building.  The car rider line is open from 8:20 am to 8:30 am.  For dismissal, parents must park in the parking lot and come into the school Community Room to pick up the student.

  • VISITOR & VOLUNTEER SECURITY PROCEDURES: All HMC-1 buildings use the Raptor Visitor Management System to strengthen campus safety for students and faculty. The Raptor system better allows us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer environment for our students and staff. Upon entering a district building, visitors will be asked to present a government-issued ID, such as a driver’s license, which can either be scanned or manually entered into the system.   • ENROLLMENT: Returning families still needing to enroll for the 2019-2020 school year should complete their Online Application. Once the application is submitted and approved, you will receive a follow-up email.

    Families new the district should visit our Residency & Enrollment office to enroll. Parents are encouraged to fill out our Online Registration application prior to visiting.
