Dr. Dawn Smith - Executive Director of Human Resources
The Hickman Mills School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Dawn M. Smith as the new Executive Director of Human Resources. Dr. Smith brings a distinguished career in educational leadership and human resources, with over two decades of experience in various educational settings. Dr. Smith's professional journey includes roles such as Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources, Equity, and Operations at Center School District and Executive Director of Human Resources at North Kansas City Schools. Her expertise spans talent management, employee engagement, and the implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Dr. Smith's strategic vision and commitment to fostering high-performing cultures will be invaluable as she leads the HR efforts in the Hickman Mills School District.

Dana Carter - Ervin Elementary Principal
Ervin Elementary School is thrilled to welcome Dana Carter as its new principal. With a robust background in educational leadership and over two decades of experience in the Kansas City Public Schools, Dana brings a wealth of knowledge and a passion for fostering positive school cultures. She has served as Principal of Gladstone Elementary since 2009, following her tenure as Vice-Principal at Trailwoods Elementary and teaching positions at Fairmount Elementary, Grant Elementary, and Northwest Middle School. Dana is known for building solid relationships with stakeholders, developing actionable plans for enhancing teacher capacity, and leveraging data to drive student growth. She is poised to lead Ervin Elementary toward new academic success and community engagement heights.

Jarusha Leigh Geringer - Hickman Mills Middle School South Assistant Principal
The Hickman Mills School District is excited to welcome Jarusha Leigh Geringer as the new Assistant Principal of Hickman Mills Middle School South. Ms. Geringer brings a wealth of experience and a robust educational background to her new role. Ms. Geringer has demonstrated a strong commitment to student success throughout her career, serving in various teaching and leadership roles, including her most recent position at the Center Academy for Success in Kansas City. Her accolades include multiple Teacher of the Year awards and numerous grants for educational initiatives. Ms. Geringer is poised to significantly impact the students and staff at Hickman Mills Middle School South.
