Warford Principal Stepping Down
After 12 years of dedicated service to the Hickman Mills C-1 School District, Warford Elementary Principal Urban Ray announced he is stepping down effective immediately.
Mr. Ray began his career at HMC-1 in 2005. For the first part of his 12-year tenure, he served as vice principal of Ervin and Smith-Hale Middle Schools. Then during the 2011-2012 school year, he transitioned into the position of principal at Warford Elementary. Mr. Ray’s accomplishments include achieving the highest MAP Performance Index (MPI) in Communication Arts, Math, and Science during the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 school years. He attributes this and other successes to his team of passionate teachers giving students their best every day.
“I am extremely appreciative of my twelve years spent in service to the Hickman Mills C-1 School District,” Mr. Ray said. “I am grateful for the opportunity that I was given to make an impact on the Warford community as its principal for the past seven years. My prayer and hope is for the Hickman Mills C-1 to continue to make strides towards successfully achieving its goal of becoming fully accredited. It is also the desire of my heart to see the District, which includes Warford, continue to flourish and grow in all of its educational endeavors.”
The District is determining their next steps regarding the leadership of Warford. Meanwhile, Director of Curriculum and Instruction Latanya Franklin will assist with leadership needs.
All of us at HMC-1 will sincerely miss Mr. Ray, and we will never forget his contributions to our District. Please join us in wishing him all the best.
